I live in liverpool, uk and I am looking for a basic introduction to photography. Any tips on where to start looking or any advice on how to take my first steps on the photography trail would be really helpful. Thanks!

I’m taking a digital photography class online. Try looking up for online classes. They’re really fun.

Adult Education evening classes are usually advertised in local libraries, they do vary in quality but it’s often a good way to meet like minded people,as are local camera clubs.Don’t confuse these with CAMRA although the Campaign for Real Ale may help you to meet interesting people. It’s like when you have a dog you meet other dog owners when you take yours out for a walk.Take your camera ouit for a walk as you try the first 2 options.

Well, my advice would be to buy a basic digital SLR camera - (like a nikon d40 or canon rebel xti or 30d) and pick up a copy of “Understanding Exposure” by Bryan Peterson. It’s a great book for basics of photography…

I suggest you take a class on site rather than online or through a book. It can be difficult to learn photography by just reading about it, and the feedback coming from an on site instructor is great. Classes can often be found in rec centers, community colleges, photography studios, and camera stores. Good luck!
